Amazon pledges $15 billion in investments in India
The CEO of Amazon.com, Andy Jassy, told the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, during their meeting on Friday; The company will invest an additional $15 billion in India. He added that the investment will raise the total value of the e-commerce giant’s investments in all sectors in India to $26 billion by 2030.
According to an Amazon blog post, Modi and Jassi talked about supporting Indian startups, creating jobs, facilitating exports, digital transformation, and enabling individuals and small businesses to compete globally.
The announcement follows an announcement by Amazon’s cloud computing unit (Amazon Web Services) last month that it will invest 1.06 trillion rupees ($12.9 billion) in India by the end of 2030. (Archyde.com)
