Amazon Visa Card: Benefits, Rewards & €30 Credit Offer 2024

by

German consumers now have access to a new credit card offering rewards for purchases, as Santander and Amazon have launched the Amazon Visa card in Germany. The card, which carries no annual fee, allows customers to accumulate points on all purchases, redeemable for credit towards future Amazon transactions.

The Amazon Visa card offers a tiered rewards structure. Prime members who already held the previous generation card receive a €25 sign-up bonus. New Prime members and non-Prime customers receive €30 and €10 respectively upon approval. Beyond the initial bonus, cardholders earn 1 percent in points for purchases made on Amazon.de and 0.5 percent on all other purchases, both online and in physical stores. These points translate directly into Amazon credit.

The card features a credit limit of €2,000 initially, with the possibility of increasing this limit later. Contactless payments are supported via Google Pay, though Apple Pay is not currently compatible. Transactions can be managed through the Amazon Visa mobile app, providing real-time access to spending and points balances. Payments are processed monthly via direct debit from the cardholder’s bank account, with options for full or partial repayment.

A limited-time promotion coinciding with Amazon’s Spring Sale offers Prime members an additional 2 percent cashback on all purchases made on March 14th and 15th, 2026. This offer further incentivizes card usage during the sale period.

The Amazon Visa card requires applicants to be of legal age and reside in Germany, with identity verification completed through either PostIdent or VideoIdent procedures. While the card offers numerous benefits, the lack of Apple Pay support may be a drawback for iPhone users. The card as well supports NFC-enabled contactless payments at most retailers, requiring a PIN for larger transactions.

According to Santander, the Amazon Visa card is designed to simplify shopping and provide tangible rewards. The card’s benefits are particularly attractive to frequent Amazon shoppers, especially Prime members. The launch in Germany follows a similar rollout in Austria, where the Amazon Visa card was introduced earlier this year.
