Perinthalmanna: A patient who was delayed in receiving treatment died after a car passenger obstructed the ambulance that came with a patient suffering from chest pain. The deceased is Khalid (33), son of Vappakuttyhaji and Fatimakutty of Valanchery Karekkad Padatepeetika Vaddakepeediyekal. The ambulance driver, who was injured during the scuffle in front of the hospital, is undergoing treatment at the Abdul Aziz Private Hospital in Pang Valiyaparam.

The incident happened at 12.45 pm yesterday. After reaching the vehicle showroom in Pataparam, Khalid felt chest pain and the staff there first took him to a nearby private hospital. Later, while being taken to a private hospital in Perinthalmanna, the complaint was that the car obstructed the ambulance on Angadipuram flyover.

There was an argument between the car passenger and the ambulance driver. Later, the car passenger who followed him to the hospital assaulted the ambulance driver. The hospital staff arrived with a stretcher etc. but the patient was shifted to the intensive care unit after the dispute was over. The patient died shortly after. The police have registered a case on the complaint of the ambulance driver. The car belongs to a native of Thirukkad.

He said that he was not in the car at the time of the incident and the incident happened when his neighbor, elder brother and others were going to the hospital with his son who fell off the bicycle and was injured.
