It’s througha leak coming from Gigabyte that we can perhaps now have an almost definitive idea of the TDPs of the Future Ryzen 7000. Even if this leak on recent internal documents from Gigabyte can be confirmed, we will note all the same that this document had already appeared almost 1 year ago already. This remark opens up several hypotheses: either it is a real definitive confirmation and equipping yourself with Ryzen 9 7950X will require investment, or we can still have some doubts about this data.
Ryzen 9 7950X: “Heavy” AIO essential?
For the launch which should arrive in the next few days, the consensus seems to agree on a relatively short range from the start. The AMD Ryzen 7000 processor family would only be composed of only five models : Ryzen 5 7600X, Ryzen 7 7800X, Ryzen 9 7900X et Ryzen 9 7950X. Of these 5 references, the document from Gigabyte’s leak makes it possible to extrapolate the TDPs:
- The Ryzen 5 7600X would have a TDP of 95W up to a consumption of 125W.
- The Ryzen 7 7800X would have a TDP of 105W up to a consumption of 142W.
- The Ryzen 9 7900X would have a TDP of 120W up to a consumption of 170W.
- The Ryzen 9 7950X would have a TDP of 170W up to a consumption of 230W.
The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X will therefore have a sharply rising TDP (+60% compared to that of the current Ryzen 9 5950X). Without overclocking and other performance optimizations, power consumption 230 W will require the use of an AIO equipped with a 280mm radiator for proper cooling. A situation that should also be found on some Intel Raptor Lakes and which encourages some brands to be optimistic about end-of-year sales…
