American actor Paul Sorvino has died at the age of 83 at his home in Indiana, of “natural causes,” his publicist Roger Neal said.
Sorvino is best known for playing Polly Cicero in Goodfellas, a 1990 American crime film directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta and Joe Pesci.
Sorvino left behind his wife, three children, and an artistic career.
Over the course of his film and television career, which began in 1970, Sorvino was known for portraying policemen and gangsters.
“He was the love of my life and one of the greatest artists ever on screen and stage,” his wife, De Di Sorvino, said in a statement following his death. “There will never be another Paul Sorvino.”
