Achiever Nobel Sastra 2020, Louise Gluck dies at the age of 80 years. After fighting for a long time against cancer, this sad news brought deep sadness to the world of literature.

The news of Louse Gluck’s death was shared by Yale University. Reporting from AFP, the novelist died at his private residence in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

“He died peacefully in his private home,” wrote a Yale University statement.

Farrar, Straus & Giroux publishing editor Jonathan Galassi confirmed the news of his death. “Louise Gluck’s passing brings deep sorrow to the international literary world,” he said.

On October 8 2020, the Swedish Academy as organizer of the Nobel Prize for Literature announced that the literature category was awarded to the poet from the US. “The 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to American poet Louise Gluck for ‘a poetic voice whose simple beauty makes individual existence universal’,” the Swedish Academy said.

When writing poetry, the Swedish Academy said that Louise Gluck’s works were similar to those of the 19th century US poet, Emily Dickinson. His work is able to be firm and reluctant to accept simple principles.

Louise Gluck was widely considered one of the greatest poets of the century, long before she won the Nobel. He began publishing books in the 1960s to great acclaim thereafter, but he cemented his reputation in the 1980s and early 1990s with a series of books.

In her Nobel Prize for Literature speech, Louise Gluck said she felt conflicted about her win.

“It was a shock to me on the morning of October 8 to feel all the kind of panic I have described. The lights were too bright. The scale was too vast,” he said.

According to Louise Glück, all this time she wrote books so that more people would read them. But there are some poets who do not see range in a more special sense.

“They see the reach temporarily, sequentially, but the readers come individually, one by one. I feel this prize (the Nobel Prize for Literature) is a decision to honor an intimate personal voice,” he said.

The woman whose full name is Louise Elisabeth Glück is an American poet and essayist. In Uncle Sam’s country, he has won many literary awards including the National Humanities Medal, Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and the Bollingen Prize.

Louise Glück was born on April 22, 1943 in New York City and raised on Long Island. In high school, she suffered from anorexia nervosa and it took a long time to recover.
