The Innersloth studio has released the first official images of the cartoon inspired by the assassin hunting game.
An animated series for adults inspired by the hit video game Among Us is in production. The Innersloth studio released on social networks on Wednesday the first images of its new project which intends to ride on the success of online gaming which has not been denied for four years. Small confidential production, Among Us exploded during lockdowns during the covid pandemic. The series intends to play on the nostalgia of users who were killing time at the time with electronic games.
«Work on the animated series Among Us move forward!”, explains the studio on social networks. A message accompanied by an image of the game’s setting representing a deserted and bloody canteen. “The crewmates’ patience will be rewarded with an absolutely safe pizza party. This is not a trap,” specifies the message in a nod to the game which consists of a chase between good teammates and evil assassins.
To launch this new animation, Innersloth and CBS Eye Animation Productions announced that they wanted to create an animated series in June 2023. And for the moment, no network or streamer would yet be linked to the project.
Among Us was created by three Americans. Launched in 2018 on Android and iOS mobiles and tablets and on Windows, the game has since conquered all consoles. It brings together different characters in the form of colorful avatars in a spaceship: some must repair the ship while others do everything to prevent them, including using radical methods. Inspired by board games Mafia or The Werewolves of Thiercelieux, Among Us sees players confront each other who are unaware of each other’s exact role, which allows for all kinds of bluffs.
During the confinement linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, many YouTubers and Twitch streamers filmed their adventures on Among Us. They quickly popularized it among adolescents and young adults around the world. The electronic game, crowned Best Mobile Game and Best Multiplayer Game at the Games Awards 2020, had nearly 500 million players at the time according to the analysis company SuperData Research.
