Those responsible for the Amstettner Kulturwochen, which have a long tradition, have drawn a satisfactory conclusion from this year’s edition. 3,000 visitors attended the 16-day cultural event, which featured 18 diverse events and highlighted regional artists and cultural initiatives.

“Concerts, trade fairs, readings but also films, theater and musicals: the culture weeks made Amstetten once again the cultural center of the entire region. The events showed the range of cultural offerings in all their diversity and at an extremely high level,” sums up Mayor Christian Haberhauer. The guests repeatedly emphasized that great attention is paid to art and cultural work outside of urban centers.

Opening concert, children’s theater and concert highlights

The following will provide a glimpse of some of the cultural highlights of the 68th Amstettner Kulturwochen. The opening concert, “Celebration,” was not only well attended, but also provided a very diverse program that perfectly reflected the work of the Amstetten Music School. Mayor Haberhauer received a surprise with the dedication of Markus Baumann’s “Tango for 4 Violins”. Also worth highlighting is the children’s theater “Straw to Gold” with the Ulkids. There were many positive comments for this high-quality performance. Another piece by the Ulkids theater group is already planned for next year.

Concerts in the Wirkstatt, such as with the soul-jazz-Hammond trio “The Midnight Creepers” and the pop choir “dachor”, as well as the performance of the choir “Coro Calicantus” from the twin town of Pergine in the town hall hall were enthusiastic. The event “Celebrate Paradise!” in the Kunstkirche St. Marien with works by Judith Brandstötter received a broad response. At the end of the cultural weeks, the Amstettner Symphony Orchestra dedicated a concert to the late former AVB managing director Hannes Kropfreiter and presented him with the young talent prize, which will now be awarded annually.

City Councilor for Culture Stefan Jandl draws a positive and successful conclusion: “The artists from the region and the numerous cultural initiatives once again offered a varied program for every taste this year. My sincere thanks go to all artists and the organizers of the urban culture department of AVB Kultur und Freizeit GmbH for their commitment and creativity.”

We can already look forward to the next edition of the Culture Weeks.
