An Accident in Farciennes Witnesses Firefighters, Ambulance and SMUR as they Assist a Paraglider Stuck in Trees Caused by a Sudden Gust of Wind

On Saturday afternoon, a paragliding accident took place in the Charleroi region near Farciennes. The paraglider was training around 1:15 p.m. near a wood along the Basse Sambre road and the rue du Monciat. However, he was thrown back into the woods by a strong gust of wind during takeoff, and he landed in the trees, resulting in injuries. Fortunately, he was able to use his cell phone to call for help, and the Marcinelle fire brigade, ambulance, and SMUR were all dispatched to the scene. It took a few hundred meters on foot for the emergency services to reach the paraglider. Then, they placed him on a shell stretcher and took him to the road where medical teams attended him. He was immediately transported to a hospital as he was injured in the back and lower limbs but his life is not in danger.

To access the paraglider, the emergency services had to walk a few hundred meters. He was placed on a shell stretcher, as for mountain falls, and was brought back to the road where he was taken care of by medical teams. He was transported to a hospital.

His life is not in danger, but he was injured in the back and lower limbs.
