An almost miraculous victory for Atlanta

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

Thanks to an unlikely basket from AJ Griffin at the buzzer, Atlanta returned to success. Winning 123-122 over Chicago in overtime, the Hawks ended a three-game losing streak.

This victory is almost a miracle insofar as the Bulls had taken the advantage 122-121 with 0”5 remaining in overtime thanks to three free throws from DeMar DeRozan. But a masterful pass from Jalen Johnson allowed AJ Griffin to conclude on an alley-oop. It should be noted that Derrick Jones Jr had missed a free throw in the last moments of regulation which might have given the victory to Chicago…

With his 15 points and 14 rebounds, Clint Capela has, of course, contributed to this 14th victory for the Hawks in 27 games. The Geneva pivot signed his eighth consecutive double double, his sixteenth of the season.
