An American deputy calls for “revenge” against Saudi Arabia if OPEC cuts its production to support oil prices

New York, USA (CNN)– US Representative, Ro Khanna, called on the White House to “take revenge” on Saudi Arabia if OPEC and its allies cut oil production in an attempt to raise prices.

Khanna said in a phone interview with CNN, Monday, “This is beyond the pale… They are actively draining the American people and destabilizing the economy… This is simply terrible… Who do they think they are?”

Khanna, who is known for his strong stances on criticizing the kingdom’s humanitarian record, continued: “It is terrible. The Saudis must be dealt with harshly.. They are a third-class power.. We are the most powerful country in the world. I don’t know why we flatter them,” calling on US President Joe Biden. , by making it clear to Saudi Arabia that the United States will cut off supplies of aircraft spare parts to the Kingdom and prevent Raytheon and Boeing from selling to it.

Khanna added that Saudi Arabia “are not our allies.. They are hurting the American people, and we have to be tough with them. The president needs to make it clear that we will cut off their supplies. We can put their air power on the ground in one day.”

Oil prices rose more than 5% on Monday after reports that the Saudi-led Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, known as OPEC+, are planning a sharp cut in oil production by more than 1 million barrels per day. The move would be the biggest production cuts since 2020 and could be announced on Wednesday when the group meets in Vienna.

CNN contacted the Saudi embassy in Washington for comment without obtaining an immediate response, while a White House spokesman declined to comment on what OPEC + may or may not do, noting that the United States is not a party to the group of producers.
