An Emirati academic warns of Iran’s pursuit of a nuclear bomb… and circulates what Mohammed bin Salman said

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)–The Emirati academic, Abdul Khaliq Abdullah, has warned that Iran is seeking to acquire a nuclear bomb.

The Emirati academic wrote: “Iran will possess the nuclear bomb, with or without an agreement with the international community, and the Arab Gulf states must deal with this possibility.”

He considered that “the way to this is to develop a joint Gulf nuclear program. A Gulf nuclear bomb for every Iranian nuclear bomb.”

In comments on Abdul-Khaleq Abdullah’s tweet, some recalled the statements of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman when he met the American “CBS” network in 2018.

At the time, the Saudi crown prince said that the kingdom “does not want to acquire any nuclear bomb, but without a doubt, if Iran develops a nuclear bomb, we will do the same as soon as possible.”

On Saturday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi reiterated that Tehran does not seek to acquire a nuclear weapon, saying: “The enemies know very well that nuclear weapons have absolutely no place in Iran’s defense strategy.”

While Raisi stressed, in his statements, that “the government pledged during the negotiations not to retreat even one step from the rights of the Iranian people,” according to the semi-official Fars News Agency.

He added, in statements: “We will never allow arrogance to infringe the legitimate rights of the Iranian people or slow down or stop the peaceful activities of Iran’s nuclear energy, and that the path to achieving peaceful nuclear achievements and capabilities will continue with strength and power.”

“The country’s young and brave scientists have demonstrated high capabilities in the nuclear industry,” the Iranian president said.

At the beginning of this month, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced that an agreement to revive the 2015 Iranian nuclear agreement between the major powers and Tehran was imminent, in the marathon negotiations that have been going on for months in Vienna.
