An enthusiast launched a super-tech demo of The Matrix Awakens on Unreal Engine 5 on a computer with a GeForce RTX 3090

The result is depressing, but expected: FPS is low.

The other day Epic Games officially gave a start a full-fledged version of the Unreal Engine 5 engine, which was in early access for about a year for everyone to get acquainted with its capabilities. One of the most impressive demonstrations of Unreal Engine 5’s capabilities was The Matrix Awakens “demo”, the level of graphic performance of which is so impressive that many users even mistook it for footage from a real new “Matrix”.

Well, now, after the launch of Unreal Engine 5, and with it the sample of the above demo, enthusiasts who are lucky enough to own the most powerful gaming computers to date, began to test them with its help for “strength”. So, an enthusiast AJ Gaming ran The Matrix Awakens City Demo on a computer with an Intel Core i9-12900K processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card.

The result turned out to be depressing, but expected: such high-tech graphics are still beyond the power of even super-modern and powerful single graphics accelerators. The frame rate when “jogging” through the local stone jungle in not the highest resolution, equal to 2560×1440 pixels, was about 30-50 frames per second. Of course, we are still talking about a “demo”, the optimization requirements of which, by definition, are lower than for the final projects on Unreal Engine 5. Therefore, it is still premature to judge the capabilities of this engine from Epic Games.
