It appears in the sky of Egypt and the Arab world after sunset today, Thursday, and the beginning of the night, the conjunction of the moon with Jupiter, in a beautiful view, easily seen with the naked eye, and it is an ideal opportunity for photography.
The Jeddah Astronomical Society said that the presence of the moon near Jupiter means on the dome of the sky only, as they are not close to each other in space, as the moon is only about 371,000 km away from us, while Jupiter is about 747 million km away at the present time.
The society explained on its official page via “Facebook” that Jupiter is the fourth brightest object in the sky’s dome after the sun, the moon and Venus, and it will appear as a bright white point for the observer with the naked eye, and when observed through binoculars or a small telescope, he will see the planet’s disk and around it its four large moons known as “Galilean moons”: Ganmede, Callisto, Europa, Iowa – appear as small points of light near Jupiter.
And the association continued: “During the night hours, these bodies will all move towards the west as a result of the Earth’s rotation on its axis, but the real movement of the moon is towards the east in relation to the stars.”
By observing the position of the moon at the same time every day, it will be noticed that its movement is towards the east in relation to the stars and planets in the zodiac circle – every hour the moon crosses about half a degree towards the east, and every day the moon crosses 13 degrees in front of the constellations in the zodiac.
Therefore, on Friday, it will be noticed that the moon has moved away from Jupiter, rushing towards the east, which is its natural movement in orbit around the Earth.
