The National Interprofessional Office for Cereals and Legumes (ONICL) has announced the establishment of a refund system for the import of soft wheat between July 1 and September 30 for a maximum quantity of 25 million quintals.
The program will offer a subsidy to importers the difference each month between the cost of foreign wheat and a reference import price of 270 dirhams per quintal, ONICL said in a note.
The subsidies will mainly apply to imports from countries such as Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany, Argentina and the United States, the same source said.
The flat-rate premium concerns exclusively the quantities of wheat that can be planned imported by storage organizations (cereal and legume traders, Moroccan agricultural cooperatives and their Union), as well as by industrial millers, exclusively between July 1, 2023 and September 30, 2023.
Quantities committed for production no later than September 30, 2023, and carried out after this date due to force majeure, will benefit from the refund applied in September 2023. The case of force majeure will be examined by the supply committee. of the country in imported soft wheat.
