Gianmarco Pozzecco, coach of the Italian national team, and Salvatore Trainotti, general manager of the Federation, left for the United States to try to convince Paolo Banchero (2.08m, 20 years old) definitively to play for Italy in the 2023 World Cup.
The two men are accompanied by Antonio Santa Maria, general manager of Master Group Sport, commercial consultant of the FIP – the Italian federation – for the marketing part.
In theory, the meeting with Paolo Banchero should take place Tuesday in Orlando after the game between the Magic and the Milwaukee Bucks of Giannis Antetokounmpo. The objective is also to make Banchero an “image man” of the NBA in Europe, so not only in Italy.
Naturally, during its American trip, the Italian delegation will also meet Simone Fontecchio, who will play on December 8 and 10 in Salt Lake City with the Utah Jazz against the Golden State Warriors and then against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
