After years of silence, in February Rockstar Games hinted on social media that the development of GTA 6 was in progress.

Rockstar Mag creator Chris Klippel has given players hope regarding the release date of GTA 6.“An important step in the development of #GTA6 would have just been reached. Things should speed up (internally at Rockstar)”he said on Twitter before announcing that an official announcement could well land before the end of the year.

Weeks before, Tom Henderson said that Rockstar’s announcement only confirmed “which had been in the works for years.”
GTA 6 has been in development for a long time, todays announcement wasn’t them saying “its just started”. They’ll handle projects as they’ve always done.

Of course, as always, this is pure speculation, but all the leaks seem to be banking on a 2024 release, and an official announcement in the fall of 2022.
