The gendarmerie has opened a kitty for the benefit of the wife and children of the soldier who died during a refusal to comply on Monday, August 26.

Following the death of a police officer during a refusal to comply on the A8 near Mougins on Monday 26 August, the Alpes-Maritimes gendarmerie decided to open a kitty on Tuesday 27 August “to provide our support to his wife and two children”.

In an internal message consulted by BFM Nice Côte d’Azur, the gendarmerie specifies that anyone, even “outside the gendarmerie” can participate in this kitty. “Unlike ‘private’ online kittys, all funds collected will be paid in full to his wife and children, with management costs being borne by the Fondation maison de la gendarmerie,” it specifies.

The kitty will be open for two monthsThe minimum donation amount is 10 euros.

The suspect arrested

The soldier died in the evening after being hit by a motorist who refused to comply with a traffic stop. The suspect was arrested the next day in Cannes. He tested positive for alcohol.
