An ultra-practical new feature arrives on WhatsApp

Ephemeral voice messages are appearing on WhatsApp. Users will be able to transmit more sensitive data orally while limiting risks. For its part, the messaging service continues to strengthen its View Once functionality.

Ephemeral messages have now become very popular among messaging services and their users. Nothing might be more normal, since this type of functionality allows the transmission of sometimes sensitive information. Self-destruction being a welcome guarantee of security.

If this trend once only concerned text messages, it has since evolved. In 2021, WhatsApp introduces single-view photos and videos to strengthen its privacy policy. Today, the application goes even further and reveals ephemeral voice messages.

In a new post published on his blogthe messaging service indicates that these voice messages, like the others, “disappear once read”. To avoid disturbing its users, WhatsApp specifies that “play-once voice messages will be clearly marked with the “play-once” icon and can only be listened to once”. Exactly like the photos and videos.

Obviously, end-to-end encryption remains relevant. To activate the single view, nothing might be simpler. Start recording a voice, configure it as hands-free and press the corresponding button, a small “1”.
