One-fourth of the pre-war population remains displaced from their hometowns
Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maryal announced on July 3 that the Eastern Front of Donetsk Oblast, including Bakhmut, had recaptured 9 square kilometers in a week. 28.4 km were recaptured on the Southern Front in Zaporizhia Oblast, with a total liberated area of 158.4 km2.
But Russian forces occupy about 86,400 square kilometers, including Crimea. There is still a long way to go to counterattack.
