Anatel’s operation seals more than 112 thousand irregular products in Multi’s distribution center

A National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) last Thursday (9) sealed 112 thousand Multi devices — previously known as Multilaser — in a company distribution center in the city of Extrema (MG). The list of irregular products found by inspection consists of chargers, drones, headphones, mice, keyboards, etc.

The value of the equipment retained by the regulatory body is estimated at R$2.3 million. The recent inspection action is part of the Piracy Action Plan (PACP). This is the largest retention of non-approved devices carried out by Anatel in electronic product distribution centers, preventing the items from reaching the shelves.

As the institution explains, the consumer must always confirm whether they are purchasing regular equipment, checking whether the approval seal is present on the device, the manual or the box, and check the approval code on the Agency’s portal. If the consumer finds an irregular product, they can file a complaint with Anatel’s service channels.

When purchasing a non-approved product, the consumer exposes themselves to a greater risk of accidents as they do not have guarantees that the device will pass the minimum requirements required by the regulatory body, such as electrical safety or maximum level of radio frequency emissions, for example.

Non-approved products also do not have a guarantee of technical assistance and may not have a legal representative in the country who the consumer can contact in case of problems.
