More seriously, Apple is launching widgets in macOS (yes, like with Mac OS X Tiger). The widgets in question hide when certain applications come to the fore. Widgets can be launched from a nearby iPhone or iPad, without the application being installed on the Mac and there are many of them, obviously with the weather (we know that some like that).
