Alappuzha> One person died in an accident in which a houseboat was stopped. Ramachandran (55), a native of Andhra, died. The boat, which was parked with overnight tourists near Pallathurthi, partially sank. Four Andhra natives and crew were on the boat.
The bottom plank of the houseboat broke and water entered inside while the tourists were sleeping at night. Locals who came to know that the boat was sinking had started a rescue operation. It is alleged that because it is the tourism season, unfit houseboats are plying. The police and the fire force have reached the spot and are conducting an investigation.
