I think people go on picnics way too seldom. It’s a nice way to get to know places better that you usually don’t stay in. Here, among the historical museums in Vienna, there are usually a lot of young people – probably teenagers, whose parents nag when they meet friends at home. That’s no longer the case for me, but I still like being here. I also go picnicking on the Steinhofgrund or on the Leitha in Burgenland. Large blankets are important if you want to take a nap after dinner and not lie on the grass. The weather is unpredictable, that’s just part of it. What bothers me is when dirt gets on the ceiling. It is very important that you take all your junk with you and don’t leave any rubbish behind. I bring reusable dishes, eco-friendly plates and sturdy mugs.
