On Monday, the police announced that the Moroccan police have arrested a woman who is the mother of a newborn boy found in Suure-Lähtu at the beginning of February.

After that, both on the woman’s profile and elsewhere on social media, she was insulted. “It is always sad when someone on the Internet, no matter what the circumstances, comes under increased attention, where premature conclusions are drawn,” said Andrei Taratuhin, head of the Haapsalu police station. He confirmed that the police also monitor social media and are aware of what is happening there. “Emotion for emotion, but I would urge people to think about what they say,” said Taratuhin. “If we discover that someone’s statements or calls have the ingredients of some offense, then we have to react.”

According to the police chief, it is important for them that, regardless of the stage of the procedure, people are not labeled. “I want to hope that we are all proud of the fact that Estonia is a state of law and in a state of law only a court can convict a person,” said Taratuhin. According to him, the police do not yet have answers to all questions and the investigation is still ongoing. “The mother’s identity is known, that’s for sure. All the rest are versions to be verified: what happened, where it happened, how it happened and why it happened. You have to be patient.”
