The international actress’s lawyers claimed Angelina Jolie Her ex-husband, international star Brad Pitt, was physically abusing the actress before the plane accident in 2016 that led to her filing for divorce, according to a new court file, and Pitt has not yet responded to this accusation.
This new claim comes as part of the ongoing legal battle between the former couple over the French winery Château Miraval, with Jolie claiming that her sale of the property has been blocked by Pitt, and that he would only allow it if she agreed to the deal.
In the new filing, shared by PEOPLE, Jolie’s lawyers make the claim: “While Pitt’s history of physically abusing Jolie began long before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this trip was the first time he directed… “It involved physical abuse of children as well, and then Jolie immediately left him.”
So far, a representative for Pitt has refused to comment on the new assault allegations.
“This is a pattern of behavior — whenever there is a decision that goes against the other side, they continually choose to provide misleading, inaccurate, and/or irrelevant information as a means of distraction,” one of Pitt’s friends familiar with the former couple’s legal battles told PEOPLE. A lengthy custody trial that included their entire relationship history, and the judge who heard all the evidence still awarded him 50/50 custody.”
The alleged incident on a plane flying from Europe to the United States on September 14, 2016, reportedly involved one of the former couple’s children, Madix.
Pitt allegedly became physically violent with their 15-year-old son when the latter tried to defuse the situation between his parents, and Pitt’s team has denied all allegations of any wrongdoing related to the alleged incident.
Pitt was also the subject of a “child abuse investigation” regarding Madix’s alleged involvement in the alleged plane incident, conducted by the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services, which later reportedly cleared him of any wrongdoing.
