The world’s most successful Indonesian-born ARTIST, Anggun, created a sensation in the cast of the legendary Broadway musical Jesus Christ Superstar for an incredible 24 performances in Rome and Milan. Created by genius creators Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, it is one of the most famous and successful musicals in history.
“I am very proud to have been asked to play the mythical role of Mary Magdalene in this very iconic musical,” said Anggun, who is currently in Milan, Italy, for rehearsals. “I feel even more honored because this is the first time an Indonesian artist has played this extraordinary role.”
Apart from training, Anggun is also busy with promotional marathons in the form of interviews, TV appearances and public relations. “I’m used to working hard. So I’m not complaining (laughs), but it’s true that my schedule is very busy, with non-stop commuting all over the world.”
In the last few weeks, I have been a judge on talent shows on the first TV channel in Belgium, the first TV channel in France, and I took part in The Voice in Canada. “I’m really jet lagged (laughs),” said Anggun with a smile.
With this latest prestigious achievement, Anggun – formerly full name Anggun C Sasmi – has confirmed his status as a pioneering Indonesian artist who is unrivaled in his success on the global stage. (Z-2)
