Coach Pedro Gonçalves stated, on Saturday night, in Bouaké, that the National Team has a well-defined tactical plan for the game with Burkina Faso, on the 23rd, in the last round of the group stage (D), of CAN`2023 .

Speaking at a press conference, following the challenge of the second round, in which Angola beat Mauritania, 3-2, he said that the last game of the initial phase of the competition, which takes place in Côte d`Ivoire, will be decisive.

With four points, in the lead, Angola will seek to qualify for the knockout phase, but to do so they will have to win the clash on Tuesday (23), at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium, in Yamussoukro, to avoid taking any risks.

“Now we will try to maintain the momentum and seek qualification for the next phase. I would like to pay tribute to my players who did their best in this game, remaining patient”, he stressed.

Pedro Gonçalves praised his team for their first victory in the competition, following a 1-1 draw in the opening round once morest Algeria.

For him, his athletes overcame a great opponent, but as fighters, they still have a lot to prove.

The Portuguese coach particularly highlighted Gelson Dala’s performance, which resulted in two goals, adding that he was a great player who needed an equal performance in a competition of such magnitude.

“It was a spectacular game with a lot of commitment. This important victory allows us to take the lead with a favorable goal difference compared to Burkina Faso”, he said.

Honestly, he added, Mauritania surprised with its ability to make quick transitions and offensive quality, but Angola overcame the situation and obtained the important victory.

The goals of the national team were scored by Gelson Dala, in the 30th and 50th minutes, and Gilberto (53′), while Sidi Amar (43′) and Aboubakary Koita (58′) scored for the opponent.

With this result, Angola leads the group with four points (one draw, one win, four goals scored and three conceded, followed by Burkina Faso, four points (one win, one draw, three goals scored and two conceded).

Remember, Algeria drew 2-2 on Saturday with Burkina Faso, with goals from Mohamed Konaté (45+3´), Berdrand traoré (71´), and Baghdad Bounedjah (twice, 51´ and 90+ 5´)) for the Algerians
