Animal Seizures at Negligent Farm: Nature Support Center’s Efforts to Prevent Animal Suffering

2023-08-09 12:34:00

Employees of the nature support center in Opglabbeek (province of Limburg) once more seized animals on Tuesday from a negligent farmer in Gelinden (Saint-Truiden), the center said on Wednesday.

These animals were raised by “someone who did not have permission due to similar facts of neglect in the past. Thanks to the controls of the animal protection service and the local police, new animal suffering has been avoided”, underlined the center of assistance to the nature.

The man was in fact previously banned for life from keeping animals, but this sanction was only pronounced at first instance. The ban was not upheld on appeal.

Due to past violations, the local police continued to monitor the individual and regular checks took place.
