  • Anja “Klima-Shakira” Windl searched for her great love on Instagram.

  • Offers were then received from over 200 people.

  • The 26-year-old student now regrets her Instagram post.

As “Klima-Shakira” known German climate activist Anja Windl recently caused a stir with a call on Instagram. There she announced that she was looking for great love. And she also wrote straight away what her future partner needs to bring: «1. Austrian citizenship. 2. Very committed: I want to get married as soon as possible! 3. Be human.”

There is a reason for the criteria mentioned: the German citizen could soon lose her residence permit in Austria. On Maundy Thursday, the 26-year-old was questioned by the immigration police for more than three hours. Because of her protests, she is threatened with deportation from Austria.

“I know that a sham marriage is punishable”

Compared to the “image” she denies that she enter into a sham marriage wool. “I know that a marriage of convenience is punishable. That was intended more as a provocation, as a dig at the authorities who want to have me expelled,” she says. Nevertheless, more than 200 people would have made you an offer. There were also women among them, “but most came from men,” the student continued.

She now regrets the Instagram post and describes it as “not my smartest idea”. Despite the threat of deportation, she wants to continue taking part in climate protests.
