Anna Baar is the keynote speaker at the Bruckner Festival

The classical music festival from September 4th to October 11th bears the title “Awakening. The Eternal Feminine Pulls Us Up”. Among other things, it is about unjustly forgotten female composers. Born in Zagreb (formerly Yugoslavia), the Austrian writer is considered to be one of the boldest voices in contemporary Austrian literature, “thanks to her unmistakable narrative tone, a pictorial quality that counters the ‘coolness’ of our time with pathos, her radical exploration of the limits of storytelling and her consistent Showing political and social injustices and social taboos,” says a statement from the Bruckner Festival. In 2022 she was awarded the “Great Austrian State Prize” and she has recently been a member of the Austrian Art Senate.

The secret of this fascination also lies in the wonderful poetry of these books. As delicate as it may seem, it proves to be so effective to look behind the facade of reality and to become aware of connections there that are effective deep underground,” says Dietmar Kerschbaum, the artistic director of LIVA, enthusiastically.

Against coalition in Salzburg

The 50-year-old sees it as the right and even the duty of the storytellers to help those who are not heard to be heard and understood, even if they are not affected.
