The euro zone’s annual inflation rate stood at 6.1% in May 2023, compared to 7.0% in April, according to figures published on Friday by the European Union’s statistical office Eurostat.
The lowest annual rates were observed in Luxembourg (2.0%), Belgium (2.7%), Denmark and Spain (2.9% each). The highest annual rates were recorded in Hungary (21.9%), Poland and Czechia (12.5% each?).
In May the largest contributions to the euro area annual inflation rate came from food, alcohol, tobacco (+2.54 percentage points, pp), followed by services (+2.15 pp ), industrial goods excluding energy (+1.51 pp) and energy (-0.09 pp).
