Anonymous declares cyberwar on Russia and Vladimir Putin | World

Hacking group Anonymous has declared “cyber warfare” on Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, for invading Ukraine, with demands that it withdraw its troops from there or launch cyberattacks against major Russian government websites.

“The Anonymous group is in a state of cyberwar against the Russian government,” the hackers said on their Twitter account, in a message that was accompanied by a video and the hashtag #Ukraine.

This Saturday they reported that they had interfered with Russian state television.

Hackers earlier claimed they had intercepted the Kremlin’s military communications.

From Ukraine, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, today celebrated this statement by Anonymous in favor of his country, which he described as a “special operation” against Russia.

The group reminded Putin that in 2018 he hacked into the website of Russia’s communications regulator Roskomnadzor and announced that he had leaked data from the Russian Defense Ministry, which is now freely available.

“Your recent attempt to threaten Finland and Sweden is a disgrace. It threatens these countries if they join NATO. Today we take down the sites of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Kremlin, (TV network) Russia Today and other sites linked to the Russian authorities,” Anonymous declared.

For hours the page of the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, did not work this Saturday.

In addition, Anonymous threatened Putin with revealing what he has hidden for years and promised that this information would be “a crushing blow” for the president and “his corrupt puppets.”

“It is only a matter of time until we find the filth that you are trying to hide from the society to which you pettly lie (…) Now we demand to restore the rights of the Ukrainian people,” added the group, which called on all its affiliates to search for information on the net.
