Another storm hits California with more rain and snow

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) — Another storm hit California on Monday with more rain, flooding and snow.

A series of winter storms battered California for weeks, causing mudslides and widespread flooding and damage.

At least 19 deaths were reported in the state in the past two weeks from the storms, many from drowning and uprooted trees.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said last week that storms have killed more people than wildfires in the past two years combined, likely to increase the number of deaths.

The US National Weather Service earlier predicted more rain and mountain snow in the Los Angeles County area from Sunday evening through Tuesday. Rain will continue into Monday evening with a slight chance of a thunderstorm across the central coast.
