It is precisely at the end of summer that wasps are particularly invasive, because they are specifically looking for sugar and therefore sweet foods. They also love meat!
If you don’t want to walk around with a mosquito net to be quiet on the terrace, as successfully proposed by a restaurateur in Flanders which we told you about recently, we can use a technique that has been proven in Germany.
It is the association of the Land of Bavaria for the protection of birds which gave this advice not to be bothered by wasps, nor to have to kill them.
In fact, it is simply a matter of deceiving them. These insistent insects do not appreciate the rain at all. It is therefore enough to make them think that it is raining for the wasps to drop the matter (our glass, our plate, our body) and take refuge in their nest. And for that, nothing could be simpler than using a sprayer. A few sprays on the wasp and we are rid of it! Wash the spray bottle well and fill it with water. In case of contact with wasps, just spray a few drops on the wasp. The wasp will think it is starting to rain and will take refuge in its nest. “Must wash the vaporizer several times. Residues of glass cleaner or other irritating liquids can seriously harm insects”specifies the Bavarian association.
Which also gives other preventive advice: do not blow in the direction of a wasp because carbon dioxide is an alarm signal for them and avoid clothing with floral prints and fragrant perfumes.
