Overcoming immense hardship, Souleymane reinvents himself as a horse rider in Paris, embodying the resilience and determination of many immigrants seeking new beginnings.

Lifetime Achievement Honors for Cinema Icons

The evening paid tribute to two cinematic luminaries, awarding them Lifetime Achievement awards. Actress and director Isabella Rossellini received a rapturous standing ovation. In a touching acceptance speech, Rossellini reflected on her illustrious career, crediting her nanny – a woman who instilled in her a lifelong passion for curiosity – for her success.

Wim Wenders, a visionary filmmaker and one of the founders of the European Film Awards, was also recognized for his significant contributions to cinema. Steen found new purpose and connection through the world of video games, specifically the online game “World of Warcraft,” turning his experience into an inspiration for others.
