Malaria causes a high mortality rate in Africa. The countries of the continent have also started to administer the vaccine. Thus, twelve African countries will be granted a total of 18 million doses of the first antimalarial vaccine over the next two years. The vaccine has been given to more than 1.7 million children in Ghana, Kenya and Malawi since 2019.

Except that Senegal, according to Dr. Doudou Sène, coordinator of the national malaria control program (PNLP), believes that countries with a high burden of disease are important. Senegal will probably receive its doses by 2026.

It is the newspaper “L’As” in its publication of this Tuesday, July 11, 2023 which underlines in its columns, that these inoculations had proven to be safe and effective, resulting in both a substantial reduction in severe malaria and a drop in infant mortality.
