Antioquia leaders were praised for their protection of children

The mayors of Envigado, Itagüí and Medellín, as well as the governor of Antioquia, were recognized in the tenth edition of the Governors Committed to Children contest delivered by the Game and Childhood Corporation.

Recognition national is done as a way to exalt the leaders that each year stand out for their responsibility and commitment with the guarantee of children’s rights and for making visible the right to play.

We seek to recognize the management of innovative and sustainable actions that strengthen public policies childhood education with love and limits, care, as well as the right to play not only as a tribute in April but throughout the year. Something that is evident in programs and projects formulated from the development plans and that respond to the needs of children”, said Ruth Camelo, director of the corporation.

For its part, the mayor of Itagüí José Fernando Escobar indicated that he happily received the recognition and more considering that your municipality has invested close to $3,000 million in the development of programs for the prevention of domestic violence through workshops and training in loving parenting and positive discipline.

On the other hand, the mayor of Envigado Braulio Espinosa received the award together with his wife as an exaltation of his commitment to get mothers, fathers and caregivers to reject physical punishment as a way to educate girls and boys, in addition to promoting the right to play.

According to the entity’s records, the Government of Antioquia has been awarded during the last five years with the award, while Envigado have received it in the last two years.
