Antonio Gasalla continues in a delicate state of health while receiving treatment at a clinic. The renowned 82-year-old capocomico was unable to attend the 2023 Martín Fierro awards ceremony, where an emotional tribute was paid to him and he was given the prize for his career, due to his health condition.
During the ceremony, Marcelo Polino, a close friend of Gasalla, was in charge of presenting the tribute to the actor, becoming one of the most moving moments of the night. In the projected video, the life and the most prominent characters of Gasalla on television were reviewed.
Susana Giménez took the stage to receive the award on behalf of Antonio Gasalla. The well-known host could not contain her emotion when she saw the images of the actor, who for years played the iconic characters of “La abuela” and “La empleada pública” in her program.
Susana, visibly moved, expressed her sadness at the comedian’s absence and with tears in her eyes dedicated a few words to him: “No one is going to forget you in your life ever again. I love you Antonio. I don’t know if you’re watching this, but I want you to know, the energies are coming.”
It should be remembered that a few months ago, Antonio Gasalla was the victim of an incident at his home, when a person entered and allegedly stole his belongings and works of art. As reported at the time, the woman took advantage of the vulnerability of the actor, who did not allow the police to enter. Finally, the woman was convinced to leave the house.
After the incident, Gasalla was admitted to the Otamendi Sanatorium and the Justice ordered a series of medical check-ups to assess his legal capacity to make decisions about his personal affairs.
In a statement issued by his relatives on that occasion, it was reported that Antonio has suffered from Alzheimer’s for four years, which has affected his cognitive ability and judgment. Since then, he has received care, control, and support from health professionals, always preserving his privacy and respecting his public image.

Polino recently shared details about Gasalla’s current state of health, revealing that he was transferred to a rehabilitation clinic where he has regained muscle strength and has been able to stand up.
