Antruido stays in the mountain of Riaño

The Montaña de Vadinia de Riaño Cultural Association, in collaboration with the City Council, launched yesterday the Antruido, which is a traditional carnival that was recovered in 2009. Characters such as the mojiganga, the zamarrón, the bull, the old woman, the bear or the lady paraded through the streets of Riaño to introduce visitors to this ancient tradition of this mountain in Leon.

As usual in recent years, people were able to taste the traditional peas in restaurants in the area. The events had begun with a tour of the bars in Riaño. In the evening the Mogiganga began and the subsequent burning of the hut to end with the tasting of chocolate with frixuelos.

Every year more young people are incorporated to dress up and wear new characters regarding a betrayal that has been recovered to stay once more on the Riaño mountain.

Weeks before the carnival approaches, the components of this association are already working to publicize this tradition of the Riaño mountain, not only throughout the province but throughout the country.
