Ants are known for their medical “expertise”, following all, contracting infections represents a high risk for a populous insect colony. Some species even produce antibiotics for their wounded conspecifics, as researchers from Lausanne have now proven. This assumes that the insects are able to recognize infected wounds and act accordingly.
