Kochi: The High Court has directed the government to take appropriate action in the incident where the Popular Front chanted hate slogans in Alappuzha. Justice PV Kunhikrishnan said that not only those who chanted the slogan but also the organizers of the event were responsible for the incident. The remarks were made while considering an earlier petition filed in the High Court seeking an injunction against the Popular Front and Bajrang Dal rallies.
The court had allowed the rallies with strict instructions to the police not to cause any law and order problems. The court ruled that strict action should be taken against anyone who chanted such slogans, and asked if he thought anything could be shouted at the rallies. The government told the court that the slogan call of the Popular Front March was unfortunate and that the investigation against the culprits was progressing.
