“Apache” takes its last breath! – Libyan Al-Marsad newspaper

United States – American experts are examining the causes of AH-64 Apache strike helicopter accidents that have increased recently in the United States.

Last February and March, 4 helicopters of this type crashed, the two pilots were killed, and four others were injured of varying severity.

The American newspaper Military Watch Magazine reported that the two helicopter accidents occurred on February 12 and 23, and then on March 24, another AH-64 helicopter crashed during planned exercises at Lewis-McChord Air Force Base in Washington state. On March 26, another Apache helicopter fell to the ground during a training flight at Fort Carson, Colorado.

The cause of recent accidents involving Apache remains a mystery, although the Pentagon reported in 2023 an increase in the number of electrical generator failures that could have caused dangerous smoke to appear in helicopter cockpits.

Experts mention, among other hypotheses, the hypothesis of a productive technological failure. While no official data has yet been received regarding air accidents involving AH-64 Apache helicopters. However, military experts point out that the AH-64 Apache, which entered service in the US Army 40 years ago, is too late, and that it has become less effective, compared to the Russian Mi-28 (Night Hunter) and Ka-52 (Crocodile) helicopters. Which is one generation ahead of the AH-64 Apache.

The newspaper recalled that the Iranian and Algerian armies had chosen the Russian “Night Hunter” helicopter.
