Recovering inspiration from the Mid-Century Modern style of architecture, better known simply as Mid-Centurythis 150m2 holiday apartment has gained a lot charm in your cozy minimalism. The person who signs the project is the architect Live Cirellowho in addition to redesigning the decor the way the clients wanted, also made several changes to the layout from the project.

One of the most significant changes was the incorporation of the balcony into the living room, integrating it and gaining space for coexistence. The beam that previously separated the spaces, instead of being disguised, was taken over by the architect, and finally became a detail that frames the living room very well. In joinery and doors, dark Imbuia wood takes center stage and gives personality to the apartment.

“I believe we managed to create a home that can be called a second home with the welcome and pleasures that our home offers us!”

Another highlight is the extensive kitchen and gourmet countertop, one part made of wood and the other made of stone. The change in material is a function of use, something that the architect always pays attention to so that aesthetics do not interfere with functionality and vice versa.

In the intimate area, three suites were designed to accommodate the family spending their holidays in Brazil: father, mother, two twin sons and a daughter. In the full video I take you to see the entire apartment in detail, while here you will find more beautiful photos of the project. I wait you there!

Valentine’s House: What was the biggest inspiration for the project?

Live Cirello: The client asked us for a project inspired by the Mid-Century style. This style was widespread in the USA in the middle of the last century and prioritized the use of organic forms, nature and functionality, always in a minimalist way, without excess. The objective was to expand the spaces and hence the “lofts” emerged. This concept completely suited this family, as they bought the apartment to enjoy their holidays in Brazil.

Valentine’s House: What are the highlights of the apartment?

Live Cirello: In addition to the countertop, another point I like to highlight is the home theater furniture! We built part of this piece of furniture into the couple’s closet. For the closet, this space was not needed, as the closet was already quite large. In the living room, it made a huge difference, as the equipment was hidden and the furniture was aligned to the wall. This gives us a good amount of space in the room.

Valentine’s House: Could you tell us more about the handles you designed exclusively for this project?

Live Cirello: The handles created for the wooden doors on the panels on both the home theater and kitchen sides were inspired by the Art Decó style, highlighting geometric shapes. It added charm to the smooth wooden doors.
