Appeal to Israel and Iran for restraint, call for Security Council meeting – World

The United Nations and the Gulf Cooperation Council have asked Iran and Israel to exercise restraint so as not to create threats to regional and global peace. An emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council has been called today (Sunday) evening at the request of Israel. In a letter to the President of the Security Council, Israel has demanded that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards be declared a terrorist force. US President Biden has said that a special meeting of the G7 will be called on the changed situation in the Middle East.

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the Iranian attack on Israel in a statement and asked the parties to refrain from further actions. The region or the world cannot afford a new war.

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammad Al-Badawi, has said in his reaction to the Iran-Israel tension that the Gulf Cooperation Council emphasizes the importance of maintaining regional and global peace. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, it is necessary that the parties show extreme restraint to prevent tension.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also said in its response to the regional tension that Saudi Arabia is deeply concerned about the tension in the region. The parties should exercise restraint and ensure the safety of the people.
