Apple faces new lawsuit over alleged labor violations in the US

O United States National Labor Relations Board (National Labor Relations Boardor NLRB) filed another complaint [PDF] against Applealleging violation of the country’s labor laws.

The accusation concerns the alleged withholding of benefits from unionized employees at its Towson, Maryland store — the first Apple Store in the country to unionize, in June of last year.

In the complaint, the agency claims that Apple offered health and education benefits to all employees in the country, but failed to include Towson union workers in these benefits. The NLRB alleges that this exclusion occurred due to these employees’ support of other Apple Store colleagues seeking to unionize.

The council’s press secretary, Kayla Blado, clarified to Business Insider that the complaint marks the first step in your Regional Office investigating the allegations and seeking a possible settlement.

If the parties cannot reach an agreement, there will be a hearing with an NLRB Administrative Law Judge starting February 20, 2024. His decision can be challenged before the Board and then in federal appeals courts.

The complaint comes a year after the International Association of Aviation and Aerospace Workers (IAM) — which represents Towson workers — filed its own complaint.

So far, Apple has not commented on the matter; the company has until December 5th to respond to the action.
