As the end of 2023 approaches, it’s an opportunity to look in the rearview mirror. This year Apple stopped marketing various products and accessories.

This year 2023 has been full of surprises and new products at Apple. We were able to take advantage of the announcement of the iPhone 15 with a new USB-C port and new MacBooks. But in 2023, Apple has decided to stop the marketing of certain products. There are 5 of them: the iPhone 13 mini, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, the MagSafe Battery Pack, the MagSafe Duo Charger and leather accessories.

L’iPhone Mini

Apple stopped selling the iPhone 13 mini in September after introducing the iPhone 15 series. So this marks the end of the entire iPhone mini. Although a refurbished iPhone 12 mini remains available on Apple’s online site for the moment.

Equipped with a 5.4-inch screen with thin borders, the iPhone mini was very popular with fans of compact smartphones. But all good things must end. Indeed, market research companies reported that the model had relatively low sales compared to other iPhone models. Apple decided not to release an iPhone 14 mini last year, but had kept the iPhone 13 mini as a cheaper option.

The smallest new iPhone Apple currently sells is the iPhone SE with a 4.7-inch screen, but it has a very outdated design with a home button and thicker bezels, and the next iPhone SE is announced with a larger 6.1-inch screen.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro

Apple also stopped selling the 13-inch MacBook Pro last week during its “Scary Fast” event. The laptop had a seven-year-old design and was the last Mac to feature a Touch Bar instead of physical function keys.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro has effectively been replaced by the new entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the standard M3 chip. The 14-inch model offers several improvements over the 13-inch model, such as the M3 chip, a 120Hz ProMotion display, a 1080p camera, and more ports.

Apple stopped selling the MagSafe Battery Pack in September after introducing the iPhone 15 series.

Released in 2021, the MagSafe Battery Pack magnetically attached to the back of the iPhone 12 and later models, providing several hours of extra battery. While all iPhone 15 models now come with a USB-C port, the battery pack has a Lightning charging port, making it obsolete.

The MagSafe Duo charger

Apple stopped selling the MagSafe Duo Charger in September after introducing the iPhone 15 series.

Released in 2020, the MagSafe Duo Charger was a foldable charging pad with both a MagSafe charger for iPhones and a magnetic Apple Watch charging pad. Like the MagSafe Battery Pack, it had a Lightning charging port.
Leather Accessories

The Apple MagSafe leather wallet

Apple stopped selling leather accessories in September, including leather versions of iPhone cases, the MagSafe wallet, Apple Watch bands, and others, as part of the company’s environmental responsibility efforts. Apple has introduced a new FineWoven fabric material for accessories, saying it has a “significantly lower” carbon footprint than leather, but customers have complained that the new iPhone cases are prone to scratches and stains.

But that’s not all…

Apple also stopped selling its iTunes Movie Trailers app and Apple Music voice plan this year.
