MADRID, 22 May. (Portaltic/EP) –

Apple has begun to enter contact key verification function for iMessage in beta versions of iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6which can be found among the device Settings options but, for the moment, it doesn’t seem to be working.

The American company has already announced the contact key verification function in December 2022, along with other security and protection enhancements for iCloud accounts.

Specifically, the technology company defined this feature as a function intended to prevent sophisticated cyberattacks that often target politicians, activists, journalists or celebrities, and reported that would extend globally in 2023.

Now, Apple has advanced in its plans including iMessage contact key verification in device Settings appin the latest version beta 16.6 for iOS and iPadOS, as they have been able to verify from Macrumors.

However, despite the fact that the function appears available, when you mark it as activated within the Configuration options, it has not managed to carry out any real function at the moment. In this sense, the same medium has indicated that it may not be fully implemented yet.

This security feature will allow users using iMessage verify that they are chatting and sending messages to a real and secure recipientand not to a malicious entity that has impersonated the recipient or intercepted the message.

In this way, in case of enabling this function, provide a contact verification code what will happen check with the user you want to contact to verify your identity. This security option is already used in other instant messaging applications such as WhatsApp.
