Apple is experimenting with titanium on the iPhone 15 Pro

The Twitter account ShrimpApplePro reports that Apple will use a new material in the iPhone 2023 that has never been used in the iPhone before. The iPhone 15 Pro is said to have a titanium case. The angular design should be a thing of the past and the edges and the back should be curved again.

The iPhone 15 Pro could be more comfortable than the current iPhone 14 Pro and also be a bit lighter and more resistant. The rounding of the rear edges is said to be similar to that of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro. The current iPhones have a design that is reminiscent of the iPhone 4. Recently, the iPhone 11 Pro appeared with curved edges.

Despite the switch to titanium material, the iPhone 15 will still feature a glass back, writes ShrimpApplePro, noting that the information comes at a very early stage.

There have often been rumors about titanium iPhones, which then turned out to be untrue. Even before the current version was released, it was said that Apple would rely on titanium. All iPhone 14 models have an aluminum, stainless steel and glass body.

Apple recently introduced the Apple Watch Ultra with a titanium case. Compared to stainless steel, it is even harder, more resistant to scratches and particularly stiff, which means it can be processed very thinly.

Apple had already offered the Apple Watch with a titanium case, and the Apple Card available in the USA is also made of titanium.

If Apple continues the usual cycle, the iPhone 15 series will be presented in September 2023. Apparently Apple will use USB-C for the Pro models and Lightning for the simpler iPhone 15 versions. Only in the following year will USB-C become mandatory in the EU.
