Apple is giving away $50 to every American who buys an Apple TV. not a good sign

At the beginning of last weekend there was a story that, although it does not affect us directly, caught my attention. It turns out that in the United States there is an Apple promotion that he gives you 50 dollars on their store balance when you buy a new Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD.

It sounds great, but this promotion may be a sign. It may be a way to encourage the purchase of those Apple TVs, and that it may mean those Apple TVs aren’t selling enough to meet company expectations.

Vintage, expensive and with a strange course

The current situation of the Apple TV is at least rare. The Apple TVHD was included in the list of products vintagebut it is still selling like nothing. The Apple TV 4K is in a compromising position, priced much higher than its rivals. And meanwhile, not even Mark Gurman fully understands the future of that product (although Kuo assures that we will see news)

That is why it is not difficult to deduce that Apple wants to boost the sales of those Apple TVs by giving away $50 discount vouchers: they want to increase revenue from that product, or at least they want to empty the warehouses and make room for a new improved Apple TV 4K. There we could see a change of strategy to reduce priceswith a generation lowest cost.

The promotion is only valid for the United States, so in Spain or Mexico we do not have those 50 dollars in Apple balance. Perhaps it is an experiment to see if that gift attracts buyers, and no better place to test that than in those United States. We’ll see if something like this comes to Spain and if it really convinces us to look at Apple TV with another face.
